The Castle of Trebizond

It is said that the great castle of Trebizond has ten thousand rooms. Its towers stretch higher than the circling crows and its cellars run so deep into the mountains that some have been surrendered to lightless silence for generations. The ancient stones of Trebizond are thick with moss from its miles of waterways and black with soot from the railways woven through its labyrinthine vastness.

The seventeenth day of the first month of Summer has arrived. On this day his royal majesty Leopold Trapezius, thirteenth of that name, makes known his wishes for the coming year in the form of a scroll brought to the Willow Balcony and read aloud for all to hear. This year, for the fourth year in succession, the scroll is blank and no words are spoken. So it is that rumours are once again whispered amongst the powerful and the humble alike: does the king still rule? Or has his basilisk come for him at last?

Oxford RPGSoc Alumni Game

RPGSoc has been around for many decades now and played host to some extraordinarily good games in an impressive variety of styles. Former President Kat Takenaka once organised a grand gathering of previous generations to eat, drink and exchange gaming anecdotes but so far as we’re aware nobody has ever seen fit to make use of RPGSoc's deep pool of gaming alumni to run a big game. Trebizond is such a game.

Trebizond is a large standalone roleplaying game which will run across a single day on 10th February 2018 (10am to 5pm).

The venue for the game is St Gregory the Great school (Cricket Road, Oxford).

Once venue hire and other costs are covered any remaining money from tickets will go towards the upkeep of RPGSoc.

Tickets Now on Sale!

Part of the challenge in running Trebizond is to find and reach out to all the former generations of RPGSoc. You can help!

First: Order a ticket if you haven't already. We're limited to 100 tickets due to venue size, so get yours before they run out!

Second: If you have contact details for other former RPGSoc members who you think might not have seen this page yet then please send them the link! Thanks!

If you have questions or comments or just want to say "hi", please feel free to email trebizond@heffalumps.org and introduce yourself.

Players and GMs

In the event that the game has more signups than our venue can accommodate, priority may be given to players from underrepresented periods of RPGSoc's history in the interests of furthering the event's goals. However, we hope to have space for everyone who wants to come.

Whilst the GM team is for the most part established, please do get in touch if you'd prefer to help with running the game than be a player and we'll find a suitable role for you.
